		On December 12, 2008, I participated in the exhibition Emergency Room in Paris. "Emergency Room is an art format by Thierry Geoffroy / Colonel that can be activated simultaneously in different art institutions of the world. It is also an international art movement. Emergency Room's heart is a room where non apathetic artists run to express opinions about the emergencies of today, today before it is too late. Artist are THE visuals experts and have statements on fire to exhibit immediately, now, while their comments can have effects. Critics and remarks are welcome in democracy, but to have pertinence they have to be done in good time. Not in Delay ( RETARD ) ." - Thierry Geoffrey/ Colonel My art work in Emergency Room was the piece "Darfuitton". Darfur is in immediate need of the world's attention to stop the ongoing genocide that has killed more than 400.000 people so far and sent more than 2.7 mio. people in exile. However, the breaking news of the world today is where Paris Hilton is going shopping. In the western world our collective identity is based solely on logos and brands and how much we can resemble celebrities from show business. We are raised by advertising and it is the only language we understand and respond to. Therefore, Darfurs only chance of survival is to brand itself as a commercial phenomenon and imitate the popular trends of the west. I created a bag as my canvas because it is a visual representation of how we communicate to each other that someone is worthy. I am wearing this bag which means I can afford it which means I have more money than you which means I am more important than you. DARFUR is what is important right now. In the Emergency Room I tried to brand it in a commercial way with help from refugees from Darfur, activists from the organization Urgence Darfour and visitors in Galerie Taiss. Wearing Paris Hilton masks we wrote "Darfur" as a logo all over the bag and the women from Darfur improvised and wrote personal texts about their experiences in Darfur.
